The Trumpets of Niche: The Soul of Salsa in Cali
Located in the iconic Jairo Varela Plaza, The Trumpets of Niche are undoubtedly the city’s main tourist landmark. This interactive monument pays tribute to the musical legacy of Maestro Jairo Varela and Grupo Niche, two key figures in global salsa. Created by artist Lucía Alba and architect Fredy Pantoja, it is part of the Jairo Varela Museum collection and stands proudly as a symbol of Cali’s vibrant cultural identity.
Designed by Pantoja Arquitectos, a renowned firm celebrated for blending art and architecture with a deep connection to Cali’s roots, this monument is a perfect fusion of innovation and tradition. The same firm is also behind major urban projects like the renovation of Avenida Sexta, which will transform the area into an open-air museum, showcasing the lyrics of the city’s most beloved salsa songs.
